Get Ready for the Stampede!

The Summer Roundup uses the trails in Bear Creek Park to get to High Drive on the west side of Colorado Springs. Both the trails and High Drive are well-groomed with lots of spectacular scenery. The out-and-back course is mostly uphill on the way out, and mostly downhill on the way back. Starting elevation is about 6,170', and the elevation at the turn around point is about 7,165'. That’s nearly 1,000' elevation gain in 3.7 miles (at the turn around point). While a challenge in its own right, this also makes a great training run for the Pikes Peak Ascent^Ž or Pikes Peak Marathon^Ž.

Triple Crown of Running Series
The Summer Roundup Trail Run is the 2nd leg of the Triple Crown of Running Series. The 1st leg is the Garden of the Gods 10 Mile Run^Ž to be run on June 8, 2008. The 3rd and final leg is the Pikes Peak Ascent^Ž or ascent portion of the Pikes Peak Marathon^Ž. Series results are based on the cumulative race times for the three events. For those who run both the Ascent and Marathon (the Double) the faster ascent time will be used. More TCR series information.

2008 Trail Runner Trophy Series
The Trail Runner Trophy Series is a points-based series of more than 100 trail races in the United States and Canada. It is divided into two categories: Marathon and Shorter Distances and Ultramarathon (longer than 26.2 miles) distances.
